JAN-JAN VAN ESCCHE - COLLECTION#1 - LAUNCH
OFFICIAL OPENING PARTY - JUNE 13TH 2010
Jan-Jan Van Essche (1980), born and raised in Antwerp, will be launching his first men’s collection ‘YUKKURI’ @ Atelier Solarshop. Graduating at the Antwerp fashion academy in 2003, he wins the 4 main prices including the prestigious Dries Van Noten and FFI price. Now Jan-Jan is ready and set to go. But this will be on his own pace. After all his first collection is titled ‘YUKKURI’; translated as slow or taking it easy in Japanese. Jan-Jan’s collection offers a mindset or even a lifestyle of easiness, a mixture of ethnic values and influences adapted to his experience of our modern times and city life. By using embroidery, braiding and weaving technics, Jan-Jan takes it slowly but surely. And all is made in Belgium. All his pieces are individually numbered in small limited series and ‘off-the-shelf’, meaning when it’s gone it’s gone. For two weeks Atelier Solarshop will be a showroom/shop where clients, shops and press can come and get acquainted with his first born.
